Fresh and zesty
creative communication services.

Hello out there, I am the mind behind Lemon Design. I am a designer with 5 years’ experience, currently freelancing and contracting part-time. Most of my experience is in print design, but I also love logo and branding projects, as well as building slick and professional WordPress websites. I am also a confident writer, so you can choose to include copy-writing services in your design projects. Please do not hesitate to get in touch about your project, even if it is just a vague idea at this stage – everything great once started as an idea. I am very personable to deal with, and the advantage of using a freelancer over an agency is that you deal with one person through the whole process.

So why ‘Lemon’ Design? My partner is an avid gardener and his passion for growing things began with a humble lemon tree that I bought him when he purchased his first home. Now, we are in our own home in Mangere Bridge and we have tomato plants and citrus trees coming out the wazoo! The lemon fruit itself, to me, invokes a summery freshness – the smell, the juice, the glossy skin- as well as sort of fizzy-tangy feelings, which is sometime how my brain feels when I get on a creative roll. My personal values also align with the eco-friendly associations of growing produce at home. I love to work with business who are producing great quality products that help reduce waste or clean up the earth in another way. I especially love working with local business that are making product in New Zealand.

Get in touch today and let me inject your business with a dose of Vitamin C – C for Creativity. How your business is visually presented is the first impression the customer receives, don’t leave them with a sour taste. Remember, a brand is more than just a logo, and consistency is key. When you reach out, please include your budget and ideal time frame in your message. I’m a very organised and efficient worker, I’ll do my best to meet your requirements. If you’re not quite ready to discuss your project yet, follow my social profiles to stay up to date with my recent work and upcoming specials and packages on offer.

FAQ

If you’ve never worked with a designer before and don’t know the ins and outs of how it works or what’s expected, I have listed below a few frequently asked questions that might clear things up for you. If you’re still unsure just send me an email, I’ll try to answer your question as best I can.

Who can use Lemon Design's services?

Anyone! As long as you’re comfortable with my quotation and are willing to keep the communication lines open, I am happy to work with most businesses and individuals.

Entrepreneurs, established business owners, corporates, start-ups, small business, tradesman, personal trainers, café owners, freelancers and sole traders, non-for-profit organisations, crafters, artists, film makers, councils, shop-owners, hotels – doesn’t matter what you do, if you have something to sell or promote then you are likely to need my help in one way or another!

Do you charge for meetings? I'd like to meet with you and discuss in person.

The first one-hour meeting is complimentary, after that, each meeting is charged at $50 per hour, in hourly increments, i.e. minimum fee is $50.

It is not essential to meet in person, you can call me or email me. I often work with people who are outside of Auckland.

Do I pay for my project when it's finished?

Short answer, no. I require a 50% deposit of the quoted value to be paid before I begin your project. You will then be invoiced for the final 50% balance, plus any other accrued costs or fees, once your project is finished. The balance will need to be paid within 7 days of the invoice date, then you will receive your final files. Please view my terms of service for more information.

What do you charge? What is your rate?

You’ll notice that I choose not to list pricing on my website, aside from the occasional promoted package. This is because I price on a case by case basis, I can often offer different options for the same project. Other agencies or freelancers may have their own way of pricing their work, but I assess each project individually, and I evaluate each customers requirements and budget. I do not just estimate how many hours of work I think the project will be. This method of pricing discourages efficiency, it can also destroy trust between a designer and their clients – you have no way of knowing how many hours I actually worked.

What sort of things can you make? I can't see a picture on your website of what I need.

If you have already had a look at my services page and you cannot see something that fits into the same category of what you need, best thing is to just email me and ask. Show me a picture of something similar to your project and I should be able to give you a yes or no answer.

Do you accept credit card payments?

Sorry no, at the moment I can only accept payment via bank transfer. The account number will be on your invoice.

Can you organise the printing of my project?

I sure can! For printed material I always give my clients the option to work with me on the printing or take the print-ready file to their own printer or manufacturer (for example, if a product is being packaged overseas there is no point in printing labels in New Zealand). I have contacts with several skilled printers in Auckland, Some I have long relationships with, so they hook me up, and I will arrange quotes for your print quantity before I order the print. If you have a preferred printer I can also arrange printing for you through them.

Do I already need to have a domain name before I get you to create my website?

No! It’s actually better if you don’t. I use Freeparking.co.nz for my WordPress hosting and they offer free lifetime domains with their hosting package. If you do already have a domain name registered elsewhere and they do not offer WordPress hosting we may have to look and transferring your domain over.

How long will the design take?

The duration will vary depending on several factors, such as, the complexity of your project, how busy I am and how responsive you are during revision rounds. If your job is time sensitive, please let me know in your initial email. Sometimes I am able to finish early and sometimes the project ends up needing more time than what we originally thought. I will not hand you over a half finished or substandard piece of work just to speed up my turnover.
